Georgia (Georgian: საქართველო, Sakartvelo) is a country located at the intersection of Eastern Europe and West Asia, and generally considered to be part of the European continent. To the west it is bordered by the Black Sea, to the north and northeast by Russia, to the south by Turkey and Armenia, and Azerbaijan to the southeast.
Georgia is a land with a magnificent history and unparalleled natural beauty. Archaeologists found the oldest traces of wine production (8000 BC) in Georgia. Even many world travellers unfortunately get precious little exposure to this stretch of land between the Black and Caspian seas. However, this is changing drastically.
Georgians are not Russians, Turks or Persians, nor do they have any ethnic connection with other people. However, there are theories which link Georgians to Basque, Corsican and North Caucasian people.
